In addition to the wonderful opportunities for relaxation and recreation let’s face it, the basics of daily living still go on. When staying in Wayne you are lucky to find yourself within an easy drive of anything you might require.

In the village proper is

In nearby Winthrop (six miles/10 minutes, down Route 133) you will find:

  • Hannaford Supermarket  (newly renovated and expanded)
  • Audettes True Value Hardware
  • Paris Farmers Union
  • Rite Aid Pharmacy
  • Sully’s Restaurant
  • Peppers Restaurant
  • Mama Luna’s Pizzeria
  • Subway Sandwiches

and other commercial enterprises that will be able to fill most of your basic daily needs. There is a Cumberland gas station and convenience store located right across from the Hannaford.

Between Winthrop and Lewiston/Auburn taking 202 to the west you will find a similar mix of interesting and helpful stores. Lewiston/Auburn has their own complete selection of formal shopping centers, strip malls and lovely little shops along the Androscoggin River.

Between Winthrop and Augusta to the east, (here 202 is called “Western Avenue”) there is another complete selection of various stores, services and suppliers. There are two large shopping malls in Augusta along the Interstate 95 exits.

In addition to the conventional vendors, the Wayne area and the lakes region has a broad range of boutique and artisan vendors in all sorts of products and services.  Enjoy a day trip around the countryside and see what you can discover.
